What is Naturopathic Medicine?
The naturopathic philosophy is to stimulate the healing power of the body and to treat the root cause of disease. For many patients, this difference in approach to health provides them with a new perspective and awareness. By addressing the root cause(s) of disease and through the appropriate use of natural therapies many patients with chronic illness have found tremendous benefits.
Is Naturopathic Medicine For Me?
Naturopathic doctors focus not only on the symptoms but also on the underlying conditions causing the symptoms. Naturopathic medicine treats all forms of health concerns -- from pediatric to geriatric, from irritating systems to chronic illness and from the physical to the psychological. It is the approach, philosophy and training of naturopathic doctors that sets it apart from other forms of health care. In addition to diet and lifestyle changes, natural therapies including botanical medicine, clinical nutrition, hydrotherapy, homeopathy, orthomolucular nutrition (IV therapy), naturopathic manipulation and traditional Chinese medicine/acupuncture, may also be used during treatments.
The doctors at The Armstrong Clinic will take the time to review their individual treatment plan with you and answer any questions you may have. For more information please see our FAQ page.

Guiding Principals Of Naturopathic Medicine
Naturopathic doctors are guided by six principles:
1. First Do No Harm
2. The Healing Power of Nature
3. Identify and Treat the Cause
4. Treat the Whole Person
5. Doctor as Teacher
6. Disease Prevention and Health Promotion
In Canada, the naturopathic medical profession’s infrastructure includes accredited educational institutions, professional licensing, national standards of practice, participation in many federal health committee initiatives, and a commitment to state-of-the-art scientific research. As of July 1, 2015 Naturopathic Doctors in Ontario are regulated by the Regulated Health Professions Act, 1991 and the Naturopathy Act, 2007.
